Project Glasswing, Explained

Project Glasswing informational Last reviewed Updated

What Glasswing is

Project Glasswing is the channel through which Anthropic distributes its most capable, unrestricted Mythos-class models. Where the public gets the safeguarded Fable 5, Glasswing participants get the classifier-free editions: the April 2026 Mythos Preview and Mythos 5, released June 9, 2026.

Who it serves

Glasswing is selection-based and tightly scoped. Publicly indicated facts: a focus on cyberdefense and critical-infrastructure organizations, US-government involvement, and a cohort of roughly 50 organizations. Anthropic has not published a participant roster, so specific company or country claims should be treated as unconfirmed.

How it's priced

Preview access used Glasswing pricing of about $25 per million input tokens and $125 per million output tokens — markedly higher than the public Fable 5 rates of $10/$50. See Glasswing pricing for the full comparison.

Why it exists

The design lets Anthropic offer the unfiltered model to a small, vetted group doing defensive and critical-infrastructure work, while the wider market uses the safeguarded Fable 5. It's a deliberate split between capability and control. For the distinction between editions, see Fable 5 vs Mythos 5.

Current status

The June 12, 2026 US export-control directive suspended access to both Mythos 5 and Fable 5, and that suspension is currently active — affecting Glasswing too. Always check the live status page.
