Claude Fable 5 release date

Availability & status informational Last reviewed Updated

Launch day: June 9, 2026

Fable 5 launched on June 9, 2026, the public face of Anthropic's June Mythos-class release. It became generally available on the Claude API and Claude Platform across AWS, Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Foundry. It carries a 1M-token context window, up to 128k output, and safety classifiers that reroute a small share of flagged requests to Opus 4.8.

The pricing rollout

Anthropic offered Fable 5 free to Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers from June 9 through June 22, 2026. From June 23, usage moved to a usage-based model, with API pricing of $10/$50 per million tokens after the intro window. See Fable 5 pricing for the full breakdown.

The wrinkle: a suspension days later

The launch did not get a clean run. On June 12, 2026 — before the free window had even closed — a US export-control directive suspended access to both Fable 5 and Mythos 5. So while the release date is firmly June 9, the practical availability since June 12 has been governed by that suspension. For the current state, read the live status page.
