Fable 5 on Amazon Bedrock and Other Clouds

Where Fable 5 lives

Anthropic shipped Fable 5 as a generally-available model across the major AI clouds, not just its own API. At launch on June 9, 2026, you could reach it through:

  • the Claude API (direct)
  • the Claude Platform on AWS
  • Amazon Bedrock
  • Google Cloud
  • Microsoft Foundry

That breadth made Fable 5 easy to slot into existing cloud workflows, whether your stack was anchored on AWS, Google, or Microsoft.

What you'd get on Bedrock

On any of these platforms, Fable 5 is the safeguarded public edition of the Mythos-class model. It carries Anthropic's safety classifiers (cyber, bio/chem, distillation) that reroute a small share — under 5% — of flagged sessions to Claude Opus 4.8, with the user informed. The underlying capability matches Mythos 5; the difference is the safeguards. Specs include a 1M-token context and up to 128k output.

Why you can't deploy it right now

Despite the wide availability, the June 12, 2026 US export-control directive suspended Fable 5 (and Mythos 5) access. The suspension is currently active across every channel, including Bedrock. Before architecting around Fable 5 on any cloud, confirm the current status on the official notice and status page.

Frequently asked questions

Is Fable 5 available on Amazon Bedrock?

It was made generally available on Bedrock at launch, but access is currently suspended under the June 12, 2026 export-control directive.

Which other clouds offer Fable 5?

The Claude Platform on AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Foundry, plus the direct Claude API — all subject to the current suspension.

Is the Bedrock version different from the API version?

No. Across clouds it is the same safeguarded Fable 5 edition with the same classifiers and specs; only the deployment platform differs.
